Scrapping with Stamps

There are always loads of scrapbook and card making blog challenges about but until recently I have never entered any of my designs. However a few weeks back I decided to give it a try and I entered  challenges on Scrapology and the Scrapbook Sisters blog site I didn't win but it was fun so I thought why not try again. I also find it makes me try out new things.

I decided to try out the Scrapbook Sister Challenge of using stamps on a page  http://scrapbooksisters.blogspot.co.uk

See below my challenge entry. It is the first page in what is to be my daughter This is your life book. The picture was taken in the first week of her life. I absolutely love the picture. She looks so peaceful and almost doll like.

Close up of stamps and stitching

To create this page I used a sheet of 12 x 12 white textured paper over which I stamped an array of differently sized scribbled flowers in yellow. I used a Tim Holtz stamp pad as this gave a distinctly sketchy feel to the flowers. I then place a piece of daffodil yellow striped ribbon from Stampin Up horizontally across the middle of the page.

I placed a coloured gem stone in the centres of some of the flowers using a variety of sizes of gems to correspond to the flower size.

Once the page background had been prepared I then set about mounting the photograph. For this I used an assortment of yellow toned scraps from my paper stash all of which I tore roughly around the edges and then distressed in the yellow distress ink I had used for the stamps Once the paper had been glued I then machined sewed around the papers  and attached a strip of lace and ribbon along the bottom of the photo,

At the top right hand corner of the page to give added dimension I added some silky fabric flowers and pearl stick on gems.To complete the page I added thee title which UI kept simple with just the name and date of birth.

I love the page as I like its simplicity but we'll see what they think of it at Scrapbook sisters.
