Cooking up a Storm

Last Thursday evening my friend Stella and I went off to Cinnamon Square in Rickmansworth http://www.cinnamonsquare.com/ to take part in a patisserie course. We had a great time, made some fabulous tarts, and I for one learnt a lot. I'm now looking to take some other courses perhaps cake decorating or bread making we'll have to see. Here below are some of the items I made this time.

I don't think I will ever get to be a candidate for The Great British Bake Off but I was please with the end results having learnt how to make sweet pastry, a chocolate ganache, and creme patisserie. They tasted great too, which is always a big bonus.

Summer Holiday Sunshine

Last Summer just before my daughter moved to London to start her new job we all visited my family in Norfolk.  We had a great time Bryony got a chance to spend time with her cousin, aunts, uncles and grandparents (my family) plus we had a chance to relax and unwind before she went off into the world of work.

On of the trips out we had was to  Blickling Hall in north Norfolk we had a great time as the pages I have done for my scrapbook show. For these pages I used a page kit as shown below, which I bought in a paper sale. I of course, typical me, didn't follow the instructions slavishly, but I like the end results.

Notice board part one student project

I've just made my niece a notice board for her new student flat, I just hope she likes it. I'm making bunting and a patchwork cushion as well hope they turn out as well as the notice board.
There are pretty sparkly buttons at each crossing ribbon. Any distortions of ribbons is due to the photos not the placement of the ribbons .
I have used a picture canvas which is covered in wadding the fabric all of which you secure with staples. Its quite simple but very effective. The idea was given to me by my friend Stella who is always great for ideas.
