No Cake, how about biscuits ?

I know some people just don't eat cake so how about trying out this simple easy to follow recipe.

Valentine Hearts

4oz (110 g) Unsalted Butter
2oz (50g) Caster Sugar
 6oz (175g) Plain Flour
1tsp Lemon Juice

Sprinkles
Food glitter

Method

Pre heat oven to 150 C, gas mark 2 or 300 F

Cream the butter until soft then add sugar and flourand lemon juice. Mix throughly first using a spoon or fork. Once all ingredients are mixed together use your hand to gradually knead the mixture into a ball.

Turn mixture out onto a caster sugar dusted surface and press out flat with your hands first before then rolling out with a dusted rolling pin.

Once the mixture has been rolled out cut out heart shapes with a cutter

Cut out using heart shape cutter

Arrange cut out shapes onto a lined baking tray

Biscuits arranged on baking tray

Cook in the oven until slightly golden, this takes about 20-30 mins depending on the oven.

Once taken out of the oven you can sprinkle with food glitter or choc sprinkles.
With added red sparkle

Leave to cool on a wire rack

Store in a airtight container to ensure biscuits keep crisp and fresh.

For a gift you could place them in a fancy ribbon tied gift box.
