Crazy Bird

Whilst I am a firm believer that animals are best kept in the wild in their natural surroundings I do like to visit Zoos. Particularly well maintained Zoos that are working to conserve and protect future breeding populations. When my daughter is home from University we often visit the Zoo usually Whipsnade or Banham. She is studying Zoology  which is essentially the biological study of animals and all aspects of animal life , and not as so many people think studying to be a Zoo Keeper. Mind you I don't think she'd mind that  job, so long as she didn't have to clean out the animals.

Anyway back to the point of this post When we went to the Zoo on our last visit we encountered this crazy ostrich. He appeared very friendly at first, then as I rasied my camera to take a shot he went for it. It was very scary but extremely funny at the same time.I loved the shot I got and think it makes a great page.

What an attitude

For this page I simply used lots of oddments I had in my paper/card stash. You know the stuff I mean, the left overs from other projects that you simply cannot bring yourself to throw away.

The background sheet is a basic green card upon which I placed a torn sheet of cream patterned paper, leaving a border of the green backing showing.

Across the centre of this I then placed a strip of bright green card topped with a yellowish cream card strip and finally a strip of self adhesive black border. I placed another piece of the self adhesive border across the lower section of the page.

I mounted the photo onto another torn sheet of plain cream scrap paper which I had distressed with Tim Holtz forest green distress ink. I then roughly sketched lines around the picture in black fine ink liner pen.

I placed the picture at a slight angle on the page and finished the page with a journal patch and some black glitter lettering. I felt there was little need for any further adornments or embellishments as I thought the picture spoke for itself.  This was really a bird with attitude.
